EDUCATION

The Johnston County School System serves approximately 22,500 students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Thirty-two schools are located in six attendance areas in the county. The school administrative office building is located on Highway 70 east of Smithfield. The phone number is 934-6031.

There is a consolidated school system with local elementary, middle schools, and senior high schools. There are two community colleges within 15 miles. North Carolina State University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University, East Carolina University, Meredith College, Campbell University, and Barton College are all located within an hour’s drive from Kenly.
