The Town of Kenly is located at Exits 107, 106, and 105 on I-95 and at U.S.
301 and NC Highway 222, which forms center of downtown, located at Exit 107.
Kenly is on the northeastern edge of Johnston County. The town limits are
within two counties, Johnston and Wilson. Kenly is approximately centered
between Smithfield and Wilson on U.S. 301, and Portland, Maine and Miami,
Florida on I-95. Raleigh, the state capital, is 40 miles west.

GOVERNMENT
Town of Kenly
Kenly Town Hall is located at 206 West Second Street, Kenly, NC 27542. The
telephone number is (919) 284-2116. Office hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday through Friday.
Kenly has a Council/Manager form of government. Every four years in a
general election, the eligible voters elect Council members and every two
years a mayor to represent the citizens of Kenly. There are five Council
members, who, with the mayor, make up the Town Council. They meet the second
Monday evening of each month at 7 p.m. at Town Hall. All meetings are open
to the public.
County of Johnston
Johnston County Courthouse, Smithfield, NC 27577, phone 919-934-3191, hours
8 a.m.- 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Johnston County has a Commissioner/Manager
form of government that meets on the first Monday of each month at 10 a.m.
in the Johnston County Courthouse. There are 10 incorporated towns located
in Johnston County, Smithfield being the county seat.
Zoning Ordinances
The Town of Kenly has enacted a comprehensive zoning and planning ordinance.
The town is zoned into several districts including residential, downtown
business district, light industrial, etc. A copy of the ordinance is
available at the Kenly Town Hall, 284-2116.
Voting
To exercise your voting privilege in North Carolina, you must be 18 years of
age, a citizen of the United States, and have been a resident of the state
and precinct for 30 days. Registration is continuous in Johnston County at
the Board of Elections, Courthouse Square, Smithfield, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.,
Monday-Friday, 919-989-5095.

Garbage Pick-up
Garbage pick-up is mandatory for residents inside Kenly. Garbage is picked
up at the resident’s curb once a week every Wednesday. Persons may apply for
service at Town Hall. Garbage pick-up for businesses may also be arranged by
contacting Town Hall. Recycling is mandatory in the Town of Kenly. Recycling
bins are provided to residents by the town.
